Garden Update
Jul 3rd, 2007 by Manerva

It rained today. Finally, after much thought and consideration by mother nature she let go of a small portion of moisture for our gardens, crunchy lawns, and duck pleasure- although I think they had to think about it for a few seconds since this is the first rain they have encountered in their short lives.
I decided to take my lunch time outside and snap a few pictures of our property. The garden is holding it’s own although the beans and potatoes look a bit stressed. The top picture is of our largest garden that holds (from right to left) Corn, beans, potato, swiss chard, onions, beets, peas, tomato, watermelon, cukes, zucchini, squash, and pumpkin. I also have two raised beds next to the soap shop but as bad as it looks I’ll keep pictures of that for a later date. We also have a ton of fresh berries I have been picking, making fresh pancakes with, freezing, and cordials. The only bad part is that the mosquito population has expanded overnight so you need to go out with as many clothes on as possible to save yourself from them.
