Really Dry
Jul 10th, 2007 by Manerva

As you can see by the dust behind Kassy and the lack of grass on pasture we are in much need of rain. The lawn is getting crunchy(er) by the day and the garden in holding on for dear life. I keep walking out to the garden, whispering to them “hold on a little longer” but I wonder how long they can go. I just heard parts of southwestern Minnesota have only seen 4 inches of rain since May and I think we fall into that category!

Husband keeps saying we’ll get what we’ll get for a harvest but I don’t buy that for a second. If I cut down the wind blew down all of his sweet corn that is doing so well I be he’d be singing a different tune!
Is gardening grandiose or what?

At least you’re not farming in the desert like we are! =)
Rainy seasons is coming, though; thunderclouds are grumbling, so the crops will be happy to get moisture from above rather than below (through drip hose).

Did you get the rain we got this week? We got 1/2 ” on Monday and 1/20″ yesterday. Made it much fresher and a lot less dusty.
