Thought I would show off some of the babies we have in the garden. Yesterday I had my first 3 cherry tomatoes. Husband was not happy w/me since I ate all three and did not share but when your in sleeping on the couch on a beautiful day, you tend to miss out on the good stuff! Right? Above is a cuke that is almost ready for the table. Oh, does a cucumber sandwich sound good. Geesh, and it’s only 6:00am!

Surprisingly the garden is doing well, even with the major lack of rain. One variety of watermelon seems to be doing really well, as I have a bunch of babies on it but my crimson sweet and the moon & stars seem to be a bit slower this year.
Also doing well in the raised beds are my pepper plants. I have 2 varieties of those so I should end up with a good harvest for salsa.

On other farm news the ducks that use to be babies are starting to get their wing colors and fly. They run across the yard on their tip toes flapping their wings and doing some major quacking- just think of the flying monkeys in the Wizard of Oz. They are at the point where voices are changing from squeeky peeps to quacks and I get such a charge from just listening to them. Last night I was in the kitchen making pesto when all of a sudden one duck really started quacking, it sounded more like a laugh to me, almost like someone had told a good joke. Talk about cheap entertainment. All I could do is sit and laugh myself.
