Bugs & Baskets
Jul 27th, 2007 by Manerva

I just had to show you all my basket/bag my mom bought for me. I have had it for a while now and have had it in service ever since I greedily opened the box- but I have to say I am amazed with it. My mom found it in her local natural foods store in Cloquet MN and figured that I had to have it so I could deliver my natural body care products in- the bag was natural as well. She did good. I use the thing every day, and then some. I use it to haul my lap top from house to shop every day, I deliver product in it, and I am now taking it shopping with me when I get groceries. I LOVE IT! Not only is is natural, it’s hand made and fair trade. You can check them out here. Although I am sad to say their online store in off line due to high shipping costs…
In bug news I found this guy laying by my pine tree out front and figure he is one of those…. What’s the name? The ones who buzzzz in the trees all day long? This guy was still alive but I think he was on his way out by the looks of him. I sure would like to get a name so I can read up on them. Anyone help me here? The picture isn’t too hot, hope you can make him out.
Bzzzzzz, Bzzzzzzzz, Bzzzzzzzzz!

Cicada?
Hi. I found you through OLS and I like you’re site. You’re discription of the quacking ducks made me laugh. I grew up with Mallard, so I know exactly what you mean about the “laughing” sound they make. What you have there is a cicada, to me, the heralds of summer.:)
Yep that’s the one. Thank You!
Oh, cool .. you had a live one, I had a shell of a cicada. I haven’t heard them but then, I spend a lot of time inside because the sweat bees are running (flying) rampant around here and a sweat bee is what sent me to the emergency room last year!!
Yes, Harley Rose and Peanut do look a lot alike!!! Aren’t they sweet dogs? Peanut spends a lot of time on my lap when I’m watching TV. Last night we had a storm so she slept in bed (well, paced until I tackled her and held her in a lock position to keep her still on the bed) .. she is terrified of thunder!
Connie- Yes, you don’t want to mess with the bees! If you look on the trees though there should be a bunch of those shells. I just went out to hang clothes and one was hanging there. They say they will not hurt anyone, but they sure look prehistoric.
