Corn, Corn, & More Corn
Aug 2nd, 2007 by Manerva

As I said in my last post harvest has begun at 12 happy chickens. We have been eating corn to the point of being sick of it, so it was time to start freezing what we could. For the first time ever husband offered to pick corn while I got the kitchen ready for freezing corn and he took forever doing so. Little did I think he would fill a 10 cubic foot wagon with said corn. After we started hauling the corn into the house husband got really nervous and started asking who we could get to come take some corn off our hands but I calmed him and went to work. Four and a half hours later we ended up with 85 bags of corn in the freezer! A good job done and husband happy with what we ended up & excited for winter tastes of summer.

Harley Rose had to get in on the action too. She loves corn!
I love the picture of your dog. She looks very much like Peanut, my doxie. But she’s never carried corn around.
Blessings
I’m terrible jealous. My corn got taken away by the crows before it could come up properly. Plus, nothing much happened with the lack of rain early in the growing season.
My cockers are corn freaks too. Fat Buddy likes to take the stalks down and gnaw on them since they are sweet on the inside. I may just put the whole plot in field corn next summer…if we have the rain for it.
Yes…Friend Scott is a character…and luckily enjoys my writing about him. Though I’m a bit nervous about him reading this one…though he did tell me I could write about the hair experiences!
