Living on a farm always has it’s challenges. Old farm houses always seem to need repair of some kind and today is no exception to the rule. This morning I ordered a new front door and this afternoon we are without water.
I decided to fill the ducks pool with clean water since they like to mud it up, poop in it, and haul tons of little rocks into it. I only clean/fill it every week and a half or so to avoid a ton of water usage, waste, and hurting our well since we have been very, very, short on rain this summer.
I messed up- or I feel as if I did. As I was filling the pool the water stopped rising, leaving me with a knot in my belly- I guess one of those oh-oh something is wrong knots. I was right. As it sits right now we do not know if our well went to hell or our water pump. The very nice plumber guy came and is here right now, but they can’t seem to pin point the problem. It looks like a 50-50 shot since it could be our submersible water pump is going down hill, or I ran the well out of water and we need a new well. Lovely at $24.00 a foot to dig a well…..
Our instructions for the next day or two is take it easy on the water. Let the water level build back up and call if we have more problems.
You never know how nice it is to wash your hands before supper ’till you can’t. Keep your fingers crossed it’s the lesser of the two evils:)

Oh geez, sorry to hear that. Here’s hoping it was just a fluke and the problem will correct itself in a few days.
So sorry to hear that! We were without water for over a month in Aug. ‘o5. Luckily it was just our pump, and my husband did the work himself. Once he got it fixed and running and the water was tested and declared safe, a large storm came through and lightening struck our new pump! We had to go through it all again! I feel for you, this is a hard time of the year to be without water, Here’s hoping you don’t need to drill!!
Teresa- Thanks! Yes, I hope it corrects itself too. Flukes can happen ..right?
Farm Mom- Geesh, sounds like a long month for you and your family. Luckily we don’t have kids in the picture to keep cleaned up, but the animals do pose a problem.
Fingers well and truly crossed. Hope it is sorted soon
