Water Wake Up

When you go without water for even a short while, it makes you think. It makes you look at your movements throughout the day. It first dawned on me when I knew we didn’t have water, yet I walked into the kitchen to wash my hands before preparing supper. You just assume it should be there and it is quite possible that some day it won’t be if we keep up the way we have been going.
Now I look at our usage differently and at what we need vs. waste. I think we need to conserve. Although husband says now that we have our water back he should not have to sacrifice….Which I don’t believe- I think we should all be sacrificing.
- I have been trying for some time to shut the water off when brushing my teeth but sometimes forget.
- Husband flushes the toilet 2x after usage. Once for the smell and the last for the paper?
- I believe if it’s yellow, let ‘er mellow.
- In my shop I have a compost toilet and I love it! I use that as much as possible.
- I try to only shower every other day, unless I have worked hard or have an appointment with someone.
- We have always used the same towels for a week at a time after a shower. Your clean right?
- Wear clothes more than once depending on work load. Saves on washing
- I keep my showers very short.
- Water used to boil food is cooled and used to water plants
- Use the dishwasher to its full capacity
- Same with washing clothes
Yes, having to drive to the spring for water for a few weeks really made me think about the water consumption.
So did you guys sink a new pump?
Oh, I don’t blame you. We were lucky that the pump held out and gave us some water here and there. We also have neighbors 1/2 mile away that let us use their hydrant for the horses but it was a lot of hauling - and I had help!
You haven’t posted in quite a while. I know there is lots of flooding out your way. Are you guys OK?
