Back Home Memories

About a month ago although it seems like only last week, I took a journey up to my parents house in north eastern Minnesota. I have been having a lot go on in my head and life lately so needed to just veg out for a couple of days. It was a crappy few days with rain most of them but it made me slow down a bit to rest plus it gave me new and old things to think about- like how old I feel these days. I’ll only be 35 in December it feels like I’ll be much older. For some unknown reason I have an old soul, and I don’t know why. I feel it when I’m around younger people and sometimes even people my age. With age come memories and sometimes it’s so hard to hold onto them. I can barely remember what I did last week, let alone many moons ago. Luckily sometimes they come flooding back, either for the heck of it or because some smell, sound, or place brings it all back.
One memory from my younger years is the above cabin that resides on my parents property which was my grandparents home up until 3 years ago when my grandfather passed away. My grandma and grandpa used this cabin for storage but we use to play in it all the time- it was my doll house I guess.
I spent some time in there while I was visiting and there is still a lot of things stored in it today; like my great grandmothers old steamer trunk and old dishes that we use to play with. It still smells the same as I remember when I was just little. Isn’t that funny?
