Busy Day and Then Some
Jan 16th, 2008 by Manerva

Yesterday was the day we went to Sioux Falls to have husbands skin cancer taken off his nose. We left our house at 5am so we had a bit of time just in case. Our appointment was at 7:45am and we arrived around 7 so I had just enough time to get some food in husbands belly before the procedure. He is a bullheaded German and I practically had to force the first bite into him but after that he decided he was maybe a bit hungry and the food tasted pretty good. We just had a Sonic breakfast burrito, (the only fast food I really, really love) but it hit the spot and gave him a bit of fuel for the upcoming event. It was a long morning- once they take the layer of skin off, you are put into a room to wait on the results. We didn’t get the results until about 10:30- then husband had to go back in and be closed up. Luckily for us, he only had to have one layer of skin removed before he got the all clear. I was very thankful it was not any deeper than that and he was just thankful he didn’t have to go through anymore cutting. He ended up with two sets of stitches, one internal and one external and next Tuesday we take the stitches out.
On our way home we stopped and picked up my co-op order. We order every other month from Country Life and I missed the last order so I was really happy to get my goods home! I have two co-ops I order from, one being the Buying Club and the other Country Life- they order opposite months of each other. I have gotten so use to ordering in bulk and saving so much money that I refuse to buy a small package of what I am out of from a regular store. We just go without and for the prices you can’t blame me! Plus it is all organic, which means a lot to me!!
Yesterdays order consisted of:
- #5 Black Turtle Beans $5.00
- #5 Green Lentils $7.00
- #5 Basmati Rice $8.50
- #10 Wheat Veggie Rotini $17.50
- #10 Wheat Spaghetti $13.00
- #10 Wheat Elbow Macaroni $13.00
This will give me months meals like hot-dishes, cold salads, soups, and stews. Plus the upside being with all of the veggies we canned from our garden- (tomatoes, green beans, corn, & beets), are in storage- (potatoes, onions, garlic, & squash), fresh eggs from my happy chickens, our half of hog, deer, and a bit left of our quarter of beef in the freezer- I don’t have to buy much at the grocery store which makes me really, really happy.

Love to see someone else who makes hotdish! I can tell we live pretty down close to one another. We are in the Worthington MN area.
I’m going to check out that co-op site you linked also, thanks a bunch!
Take care ~ Erica
