Sundogs & Comfort Food
Jan 17th, 2008 by Manerva

They all go together right? I saw that Connie had a few pictures of the Sundog she caught on her camera and remembered I had taken a few that day as well. We only live about an hour and a half away from each other so I figure great minds think alike or they just look out the window watching the birds at the same time…
Yesterday was darn cold. We have had a stiff wind and the temperature dropped slowly as the day went on- unfortunately it’s suppose to drop even more by this weekend. I heard -15 below…
So what do I do when it gets way cold out? Cook, eat, cook, check on my babes in the barn and threaten to bring them all in the house. That’s 15 chickens and two horses. Of coarse husband gives me the “look” that says it all and I give up, but not without trying. So, last night I made a homey meal for poor husband who has a sore nose (he’s being a pretty good trooper though) and because comfort food warms the soul! That and the couple gallons of tea I consume on a daily basis!
Mashed potatoes and hamburger gravy with steamed cabbage. Yummo!

I hope your hubby’s operation is the last one!! Norm said he saw someone with a bandaid on his nose on Friday, when I was there, but I said it looked like you were in Sioux Falls on Saturday!!
What is your ‘recipe’ for your cabbage meal? Looks good.
Keep looking for sundogs - they will be out this weekend, I am sure!
